A NEW advice and information service for council tenants living in Newsome, Primrose Hill and Taylor Hill has started this month.

The housing surgery, run by Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing (KNH), will be held at the Kirklees Federation of Tenants and Residents Associations office at St John’s Avenue, Newsome, on Tuesdays from noon to 2pm.

The office was formerly the housing office.

Estate management staff will be on hand to provide help and advice with housing, estate or other related issues.

These might include rent, repairs, council tax, benefits, street-lighting, neighbour problems, litter, potholes, and so on.

The new surgery will be an extra facility for anyone who finds it difficult to get to KNH’s town centre office.

Customers can also contact housing staff by phone or request a home visit if they prefer.

There are also Credit Union facilities available at the KFTRA office provided by Castle and Minster.

KNH is a not-for-profit company that manages Kirklees Council’s 23,000 council houses.

The company gained an ‘Excellent’ rating from the Government’s Housing Inspectors, who praised KNH for going beyond traditional housing management to engage with the people who live on the estates they manage.
