MINORITY groups are set to get more support thanks to a lottery grant.
Voluntary Action Kirklees has landed almost £300,000 to help groups promote and manage themselves more successfully.
The Community Work Training Company, the Charities Information Bureau and also Artimedia, a group set up to help groups get to grips with IT, will also benefit from the cash.
Director of Voluntary Action Kirklees Neil Bennett said: "The money means minority groups in areas that have not seen much help in the past can now get the support they need.
"The cash will go towards two more full time staff and also buy in any other expertise we may need to help organisations such as single parent groups, those with disabilities and ethnic minority groups."
