AN amateur theatre company was all ready for its next production - except for a large sausage.

So Morrisons supermarket stepped in to help and provided the German sausage for Spot On Musical Theatre's production of comedy classic 'Allo 'Allo.

The stage show stems from the TV series starring Moldgreen-born actor Gorden Kaye who has written to the cast with tips on how best to use the props on stage.

The theatre company is based at Moldgreen United Reformed Church.

The show is being staged there from Thursday, June 17, to Saturday, June 19, at 7.30pm with a matinee at 2.30pm on the Saturday.

Producer Margaret Warmington said: "The large German sausage is crucial to the plot and we asked Morrisons if they could help ... and they did. It's an hilarious show."

Gorden played the part of café owner Rene in the comedy set in France during World War Two, both on TV and the West End stage.

Margaret added: "We contacted Gorden and he sent a letter of general support and also one to the cast.

"He revealed he has played Rene 1,200 times on stage at the London Palladium and gave tips about how to play the role and the best way to use all the silly props to make them so effective."
