A MAN denies repeatedly threatening to kill his ex-partner and her unborn child, a court heard.

Luke Bedeau, 21, of Eastlands, Almondbury, appeared at Kirklees Magistrates Court yesterday and denies harassment of his ex-partner Nicol Salcombe between October 2012 and February this year.

Prosecutor James Weekes told the court threats escalated and when Ms Salcombe was six months pregnant it is said that on Christmas Day last year Bedeau smacked her round the face and repeatedly threatened her and to kill her unborn child.

He said further threats continued including on December 27 and 28 and it is said Bedeau attended her work and repeated the threats.

Further charges include assault by beating of Ms Salcombe and her friend on March 20 at Upperhead Row, Huddersfield and intimidating a witness.

Bedeau denies all charges and the case has been sent to Leeds Crown Court to be heard on June 26 for a plea and case management hearing.

He was granted conditional bail not to contact named complainants.
