DEVELOPERS aim to transform a Greetland mill into apartments.

Morris Properties UK want to convert Hollyns Mill in Rochdale Road into 49 flats.

The two mill buildings have been empty for three years.

Four letters of objection have highlighted concerns about traffic congestion and increasing on-street parking.

Engineering firm Fan Systems have premises to the south of the proposed site.

The impact of noise from their works was assessed during an earlier planning process and was considered acceptable if certain measures were taken.

Noise monitoring was carried out while a fan was being tested in the works yard.

Calderdale's planning officers have stressed high standards in design and materials will be necessary.

Natural stone and slates are to be used on the building and a connecting single-storey building is to be demolished to make way for a glass structure.

Calderdale Council officers also want 10 per cent of the flats to be affordable housing offered at half price.

The planning committee meets next Tuesday. Officers say they would permit the scheme subject to conditions.
