POLICE have appealed for potentially vital witnesses to come forward after a fast car stolen from Golcar was used in a ram-raid at a shop.

The black Subaru Impreza was taken from Knowl Road and shortly afterwards was used to grab a cash dispenser in a raid at Batley.

A cash dispenser was dragged from The Happy Shopper store in Upper Road, Batley, at 2am on Monday, July 19.

The thieves caused £10,000 damage breaking into the shop.

Another stolen Subaru Impreza was also used in the raid and police now believe one of the cars stopped to allow a couple to cross the road in Heckmondwike.

A police spokes- woman said: "We are keen to trace a middle- aged couple who crossed Halifax Road close to the speed camera at Lobley Street at about 11.30pm on July 18.

"A vehicle stopped to allow them to cross the road and it is believed this vehicle may have been involved in the incident."
