TRAFFIC police are appealing for witnesses to a collision which left a pedestrian needing hospital treatment.

The pensioner was hit by a Vauxhall Astra on Highgate Lane in Lepton, near Greaves Croft at 10.55pm on Friday night.

The old man was taken to the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary where his injuries, which included bruising and cuts, were originally thought to be life threatening.

The driver of the car, a 31-year-old from Thornton Lodge, stopped at the scene.
