TWO former care home workers from Kirklees have won a chance to clear their names in court.

Ian Brooke and John Siddall were jailed after a large-scale police investigation called Operation Clyde into children's homes and residential schools in Kirklees.

The investigation was carried out in the late 1990s.

Brooke, who worked at Rivendell Children's Home, Dewsbury, and Westfields, Mirfield, was jailed for 10 years in April 2000.

He was convicted of three rapes, indecent assault and another serious sexual offence.

Siddall, who worked at Rivendell, was convicted of three indecent assaults and one count of indecency with a child.

He was jailed for four years in July 1999.

Both men have had their cases referred back to the Court of Appeal by the Criminal Cases Review Commission.

It is understood the Commission, which investigates possible miscarriages of justice, had reviewed new material relevant to the cases.
