POLICE have urged victims of an alleged scam sale in Huddersfield town centre to come forward.

The one-off sale took place in a shop on New Street - the old Gallery 4 shop opposite KFC - on Saturday.

Shoppers were handed flyers inviting them to the sale and once in the shop they were shown boxes which indicated that they contained items such as DVD players, TVs and mobile phones.

But when people who bought them got them home, they found different items inside.

Acting Sgt Jim Carter, of Huddersfield police, said: "One person bought what he believed to be an expensive electrical item for a so-called bargain and what he found inside was cheap `his and her' watches and a cheap desktop calculator."

He added: "There may be dozens of victims here who could have been too embarrassed to come forward, but we would appeal for them to contact us."
