Return of the primary school helpers course

A COURSE to train primary school helpers is returning to Huddersfield.

Helping in Schools is a course designed for volunteers in primary schools.

It is run by the Workers’ Educational Association (WEA).

The course is aimed at parents interested in how schools work and children learn.

People interested in support work in schools can also take part.

The WEA is now inviting applications for places on the free 14-week course.

It starts at Birkby Infants and Nursery School on March 4, with participants meeting once a week.

They will be expected to help in a primary school for at least two hours a week.

Participants get the chance to gain the NCFE Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools.

Applications are particularly invited from people with few previous qualifications.

Fluency in written and spoken English is necessary.

To apply call programme organiser Linda Croft on 01706 818103.
