ARMED police were called to an incident at High Flatts.
And police sealed off the main Penistone Road as part of the operation.
The incident happened at 8.40am on Tuesday after reports of a disturbance.
Police confirmed they had been called to a house in Windmill Hill Lane and arrested a 46-year-old man on suspicion of affray.
The A629 was closed off for a time while police carried out the operation.
An airgun was recovered from the house.
