Armed police swooped on a house in Crosland Moor in a dramatic early hours raid.

The raid was carried out by firearms officers who surrounded the property in Blackmoorfoor Road on Monday at 5.45am.

The swoop comes just over 12 hours after reports that two shots were fired in College Street East.

Neighbours awoke on Monday morning to see the police swarming around a house before entering and searching the house.

Nothing was found at the premises.

Police have confirmed the raid was carried out as part of their investigation into the incident on Sunday night when three armed police units, backed by the force helicopter, descended on a terraced house in College Street East.

Police were called in after witnesses reporetd gunfire.

They said after two shots were fired, two “souped up” cars screeched down the narrow alleyway and into Clement Street and away into Blackmoorfoot Road.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Firearms officers executed a warrant at an address in Blackmoorfoot Road on Monday.

“The address was searched and no weapons were found.

“Enquiries are ongoing regarding the College Street East incident.”

The incident happened just days after armed polcie stopped a car in Park Road, at the end of College Street East, and arrested two men.
