ARMED raiders fled empty-handed from a Rastrick shop.

The three men, one armed with a knife and one with a stick, tried to rob an off-licence shop in Church Street on Monday evening.

But they fled when they were challenged by a staff member.

Police are appealing for information following the raid at 8.30pm.

The men were wearing masks and demanded cash from the till but a staff member managed to grab the wooden stick and the three men left empty-handed.

Det Con Marcus Southwell, of Calderdale District CID, said: “Thankfully this incident came to a safe conclusion but nonetheless these men have entered this shop armed with weapons and it is vital that we identify them.

“Anyone who was in the area and witnessed any part of this offence or with information about the men responsible are asked to call Calderdale CID via 101.”
