AN ARMED robber demanded cash from a Golcar off-licence before fleeing on a stolen motorbike.

A 20-year-old masked man entered Kayes Off Licence in Knowl Road at around 4.50pm on Monday and demanded cash from the counter but the alarm was activated and the intruder fled empty-handed.

He made off on a stolen motorbike which has since been recovered by police near St John’s Junior School in Manor Road.

A man was arrested, charged and later appeared in court before he was remanded in custody.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “A man has been charged on suspicion of robbery and possessing an imitation fire arm with intent to cause fear and or violence.

“A second charge of theft of a motor vehicle has also been made and he has been remanded in custody.”
