A MAN was arrested after three people were hurt in a hit- and-run crash.

The driver of a VW Golf lost control while travelling down Blacker Road, Birkby, and smashed into a parked car near the Spinks Nest pub and then collided with three pedestrians.

The car was driven further down the road and then abandoned.

The incident was at 8.30pm last night .

Police later arrested a 27-year-old Cowcliffe man on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs and failing to stop after an accident.

The three pedestrians - two men and a woman - were taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for treatment.

They had suffered cuts and bruises.
