TWO men are being quizzed over the suspected murder of Huddersfield man Jasem Asakerh.

The pair, aged 32 and 21, who are from the Huddersfield area, were arrested by police yesterday morning.

Officers went on to carry out searches of houses in Huddersfield and Dewsbury as part of the investigation.

Iranian-born Mr Asakerh, 28, from Birkby Hall Road, was shot dead as he sat in the back of an Audi Q7 car on Brook Street in Thornton Lodge in the early hours of April 3.

He died from a single bullet wound to the chest.

A 26-year-old man, who was also in the car, suffered minor injuries.

The gunman, wearing a bandana over his face, ran off towards Moorbottom Road.

Police believed it was a targeted attack and were looking into Mr Asakerh’s criminal background for clues.
