A DERELICT kitchen and bathroom showroom has been attacked by arsonists for the second time in a month.

Now a Huddersfield fire boss fears the former Graham’s Kitchens and Bathrooms is becoming a prime target for vandals.

Andy Blackburn, watch manager at Huddersfield fire station, said: “Until it is demolished, I think there will be quite a few problems down there.

“There has been quite a few already.”

Firefighters from Huddersfield and Elland spent three hours tackling two separate blazes inside storage sheds on Thistle Street, behind the empty Leeds Road showroom, on Wednesday night.

Crews were called to the burning sheds – containing wooden pallets and old office furniture – around 6.20pm.

Four fire engines were needed to extinguish the flames and high pressure fans were used to clear the heavily smoke-logged buildings.

Nobody was injured in the fires, which are being treated as suspicious.

The incident came just one month after firefighters tackled a huge blaze inside the disused showroom in February.

West Yorkshire Police have confirmed they are treating the attack as arson and are investigating.
