A TALENTED artist has helped to brighten up a corner of a children’s playground.

Josh Dwyer, 18, from Slaithwaite, has created a thought-provoking image on a school wall, previously used for kicking footballs against.

The project is titled, “To infinity and beyond” with a nod to the hugely popular film Toy Story, in order to appeal to the pupils.

Creating the perspective on such a large scale was a real challenge for Josh.

The wall measures 7.5 metres (length) by 4 metres (high) and took three weeks on and off between the rain.

Josh, graduated with a Distinction in Extended National Diploma in Art and Design at Highfields, Huddersfield, and is currently undertaking an Art and Design Foundation Diploma at Camberwell College of Art & Design, in London.

The design encourages you to study, enter into and explore the picture and has been a hit with parents, pupils and staff with the school caretaker describing the image as ‘amazing.’ Others have likened it to ploughed fields or a scene in Provence.

Project funding came from local volunteer and allotment organisation, the Golcar Community Garden.
