ORGANISERS of Holmfirth Artweek were delighted to reach their fundraising target.
To celebrate the week's 40th anniversary, organisers set themselves an ambitious \'a340,000 target.
Artweek artistic director Mick Kirkby-Geddes helped achieve the goal by cycling 900 miles from Land's End to John O'Groats.
He raised more than \'a35,000 towards the total amount, which is being given to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Organiser Richard Raby said: "We have never raised that much before and we always knew it was an ambitious target, but we felt it would be a great way to celebrate 40 years of Artweek.
"With Mick's remarkable contribution we have now achieved our target and will be handing over the record \'a340,000 to Macmillan from this year's event."
Thousands of art lovers flocked to this year's event.
To commemorate its 40th anniversary there was a special exhibition of invited artists' work and a calendar of previously featured artists.
Next year's Artweek will run from July 1 to 7.
Amateur and professional artists can apply next April to exhibit.
