A DISPLAY of stunning Asian wedding outfits has opened at Dewsbury Museum.
The bride's outfit, in deep red silk and smothered with gold embroidery, was designed by local company Sherher-e-Rung and made in Pakistan.
The groom's outfit, a traditional long coat with turban, was purchased in Bradford.
The dresses are part of the And the Bride Wore Red display which has gone on show at the museum.
It is the result of a research project to find out about the latest Asian wedding fashions. Asian couples are choosing more traditional Asian styles for their weddings today, rather than adopting western style white dresses and three-piece suits.
The outfits were selected by Asian women from Batley and purchased by Kirklees Community History Service.
Collections assistant Katina Bill commented: "To western eyes they seem very old fashioned but, to the trained Asian eye, they are fashionable and modern."
The exhibition runs until February next year.
