A MAN was attacked in the early hours in Holmfirth.

The 30-year-old victim, from Longwood, was walking through the town centre with two friends when they became involved in an argument with five men at 2.30am on Saturday.

The victim was punched several times.

One of his friends was attacked when he went to help him.

The Longwood man suffered cuts and grazes to his face and a black eye.

The main attacker is white, in his late 20s, 5ft 8in tall and stocky.

He has black, wavy, chin-length hair and wore a red, checked shirt.

The four men with him are all white.

Sgt Tim O'Sullivan, of Huddersfield police, said: "The area was busy at the time and we would like anyone who saw what happened to come forward."
