A MAN remains seriously ill in hospital after he was allegedly attacked earlier this month.

The 51-year-old man is in a critical condition after suffering head injuries in the incident, which happened close to the Commercial pub in Slaithwaite.

Police were called to deal with an incident at Carr Lane at 11.45pm on Friday, February 8.

The victim was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, but later transferred to Leeds General Infirmary, where he remains in a poorly state.

Police arrested two 16-year-olds in connection with the incident.

Both have been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Police have appealed for information from people who witnessed the incident.
