A WOMAN was abducted while walking alongside a busy main road.

The 20-year-old had got a bus from Wakefield to Huddersfield and was walking along Leeds Road to see a friend in Mirfield at 7pm last night.

She was close to the Woodman pub in Bradley when a white van with the word Brent printed on the side pulled up alongside her.

The driver leaned across and opened the door.

The victim thought he wanted to ask for directions, but he dragged her into the van and drove her to the nature reserve on Dalton Bank Road behind the giant Avecia plant.

There were other cars in the car park and the man then threw her out of the van.

Pc Dave McSweeney, of Huddersfield police, said: "We would like to speak to anyone who saw the woman being abducted on Leeds Road or being pushed out of the van at Dalton Bank.

"People can come forward and speak to us in confidence."
