A 36-YEAR-OLD woman was robbed by a man who offered her a lift in his car.

The victim refused the lift, but the man attacked her minutes later after getting out of his car and hiding behind some bushes.

The victim was walking along Halifax Road in Birchencliffe carrying a blue Adidas holdall when the man drew up in a red estate car at 3.15am yesterday.

He asked if she was OK and offered her a lift, but she refused.

Moments later he emerged from some bushes.

Fearing for her safety, she turned around and told him to go away, but he pushed her to the ground, grabbed her holdall and fled.

The holdall contained a camera, a mobile phone and some clothes.

The attacker is black, about 6ft tall with broad shoulders and wore a long-sleeved jumper.

Det Con Neil Johnson, of Kirklees CID intelligence unit, said: “One good clue to his identity is his red estate car. Did anyone see it in that area in the early hours of yesterday morning?”
