More than 80 people attended the launch of a ‘dark rom com’ book in Marsden.
Chris Longden launched her novel Mind Games and Ministers and gave people a sneak preview of the town’s new Coffee Mill.
And the political romantic comedy had the support from Colne Valley Tory MP Jason McCartney who attended.
Chris said: “The level of interest and appreciation in the book has been staggering.
“It’s also proven to be very topical. The book was written some time before the phone-hacking enquiries, but the heroine of the book – just an ordinary woman – finds herself inadvertently nearly baring-all in a national tabloid newspaper.
“People are also really appreciating the fact that the action in the story has a national focus and yet the storyline has a strong local focus. With plenty of northern based humour and dialogue, of course.”
Mind Games and Ministers is a political rom com based in West Yorkshire with the fast-paced action straddling both Lancashire and Yorkshire territory.
Chris is involved with a new enterprise which is working to bring together a love of books and of coffee. The new Dark Woods Roastery – and soon to be cafe – along with award-winning northern indie publishers Bluemoose of Hebden Bridge came together to support her launch evening.
