A TAKEAWAY driver was lured to a bogus customer and then threatened by an axe-wielding robber.

The victim was called to take food to a house on Long Lane in Honley just after 9pm last night.

But when the 39-year-old arrived the people at the house said they had not ordered a meal.

As he returned to his car he was confronted by two robbers, one with an axe.

When he tried to run away they caught him and demanded money.

Again he managed to wriggle free and flee.

The attackers escaped with his mobile phone and the takeaway food, worth £17.

The axeman is white, in his 20s and 5ft 8in tall.

He spoke with a deep voice.

His accomplice is also white, 5ft 8in and in his 20s.

He wore a white bala- clava and dark clothes.

Anyone who saw them or has any information should phone detectives direct on 01484 436685 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
