A JUDGE has agreed to adjourn the sentence on a 29-year-old Brighouse man - so his wedding can go ahead next month.

Richard Fallowfield, of Marion Street, pleaded guilty to an affray charge when he appeared before Judge Roger Scott at Bradford Crown Court yesterday .

But his barrister made a plea for the date of his sentence to be put back until after he weds on April 23.

Jayne Beckett, for Fallowfield, explained that the wedding day had been booked a year in advance and it was an unfortunate situation.

The affray offence was committed in December.

The court heard Fallowfield had an axe with him in a public place.

Judge Scott agreed to adjourn the sentence so that a report could be prepared on Fallowfield.

He said he would have to return to the Crown Court six days after his wedding.

He told Fallowfield that all sentencing options would be available to the judge on the next occasion and he warned him that people who waved axes at others in public generally went to custody.

He granted Fallowfield bail in the meantime.
