THE chairman of the South West Yorkshire Mental Health NHS Trust, Sukhdev Sharma, has been reappointed for four years.

As trust chairman his role is to ensure the trust board works effectively and has confidence in the systems to ensure good clinical care and financial management.

He will be paid £19,454 per year.

"I am delighted to accept a further four-year term as chairman," he said.

"Over the last few years the trust has met with many challenges yet has continued to improve services for people with mental health problems and learning disabilities.

"I look forward to building on our progress so we can continue to provide high quality, tailored services for people who need to use them."

Before joining the trust he served for five years as a non-executive director of a community and mental health trust in London.

He has also worked as a co-opted trustee of Calderdale Community Foundation, as a member of Leeds Employment Tribunal and as an adviser to the European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia based in Vienna.
