A HUDDERSFIELD company is hosting a fashion show and make-over day designed to get single parents back to work.

CMS Vocational Training, of Highfields Road, Highfields, is holding the event - entitled Spring Make-over - at Huddersfield Town Hall on Tuesday, April 19.

It will start at noon and feature demonstrations of hair and nail treatments and a three-stage fashion show.

The first stage will take place at 1pm, the second at 2.30pm and the third at 4pm.

The clothes for the show have been provided by department store BHS.

Jackie Shaw, CMS's training and employment officer, said the event would be a fun day - but with a serious focus on getting single parents into work.

She added: "The motto is to make over yourself and make over your life.

"As far as we know this is something that hasn't been done for lone parents before.

"It is to promote employment, but it will give parents a chance to see how other lone parents have achieved something which they had thought was impossible.

"They can find out how to get started with work."

CMS staff will be there to offer advice.

CMS is contracted to provide work training by JobCentre Plus.

Information on job opportunities will also be offered by Kirklees Council, the Asda supermarket chain, Spring Grove Nursery, Infant and Junior School at Springwood, Dalton's Kirkwood Hospice, Compact Education Business Services, Shelter charity shop, the Dram music workshops, Royds Hall High School, 11th Hour Marketing, the National Children's Centre, the National Trust and Fenay Machine Safety.
