A MAN has been bailed after appearing in court accused of a string of criminal offences, including practising illegally.

Alan Tait, 56, who until recently ran a practice in High Street, Uppermill, had been re-arrested after failing to attend court on several previous occasions.

He faces five charges under the Veterinary Surgeons Act and is accused of practising as a vet without being registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Mr Tait, who lives in Holmfirth, where he ran a second surgery, was ordered to appear before Oldham magistrates again on July 26.

Strict bail conditions include not treating animals in any way, surrendering all animal drug treatments to Oldham Council and obeying a curfew between 8pm and 8am.

He was bailed to an address at Chew Valley Road, Greenfield.
