G4, the band including former Huddersfield student Matt Stiff, are still on course for pop stardom.

They won through Saturday's qualifying heat in the TV talent show The X Factor.

And now they are in the last seven of the competition which is attracting millions of viewers.

The four-man band, who have a haunting operatic style, were criticised by the judges on Saturday night for their choice of song.

But their version of the Oasis track Don't Look Back In Anger was a hit with the viewers, who voted them through.

Matt, 24, studied music at Huddersfield University, where he gained a master's degree before moving on to the Guildhall School of Music in London.
