RADIO station Pulse is again inviting Huddersfield musicians to enter its Battle of the Bands contest.

They will compete for the chance to perform in front of a 25,000-strong crowd at Pulse's Party in the Park at Myrtle Park, Bradford, on Sunday, September 5.

The winning band will open the show before big-name bands take the stage.

Last year, stars included Liberty X and Gareth Gates.

To enter Battle of the Bands, contestants have to be 18 or over and from West Yorkshire.

Boy and girl band wannabes need not apply. Pulse want musicians who can play their own instruments, write their own songs and bring a unique presence to the stage.

Heats are being held at Jumpin' Jaks branches in Huddersfield, Bradford and Halifax during July.

So far, three bands from this area have entered. Inside Eve, from Brighouse, and Waring Green, of Mirfield, were in a heat in Huddersfield last Tuesday.

Huddersfield band Honest Box, who took part last year, will be in their home town today.

Bands must perform an original song and a cover version. The final is in Halifax next month.

Bands can enter by getting their demo tape to The Pulse, Pennine House, Forster Square, Bradford.
