MASTER sausage- maker Andrew Whitham narrowly missed being crowned champion of champions.

Andrew, 35, who runs Hinchcliffe's Farm Shop in Netherton, was among elite butchers invited to a leading competition in London.

Along with 18 other entrants from around the UK, he prepared a succulent sausage for the judges and came third with his traditional recipe.

The event took place at the Rembrandt Hotel in Knightsbridge.

Among the judges was Fred Mallion, a former Master of the Worshipful Company of Butchers.

Andrew, a butcher since he was 16, earned his place in the final by winning important banger competitions around the North and the Midlands.

He runs his farm shop with Simon Haigh.
