SHOPMOBILITY services will be extended to Batley this week.

The Kirklees Council scheme helps disabled and elderly people to get around town centres by providing scooters and manual wheelchairs.

The service is being expanded to Batley town centre and will be operated from the Social Services Information Point at the Town Hall.

Clr Dennis Hullock, the Cabinet member with responsibility for health and social services, said: "I'm pleased that the Shopmobility scheme has been extended to Batley.

"I know how successful Shopmobility has proved to be where it is already available.

"It is a tremendous boost for disabled people in Batley

and I'm confident it will soon be operating successfully in the town."
