The fire at Batley Working Men’s Club is being treated as arson.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the fire which started about 1.15pm yesterday (Thursday) at the Wellington Street club.
They said someone broke into the empty club and set furnishings alight.
Det Con Sarah Umpherville said: “The fire has caused extensive internal and structural damage to this former working men’s club. Initial enquiries by the fire service suggest the fire has started after a naked flame was used to set light to furnishings inside.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who has seen anyone entering or leaving the premises or acting suspiciously in the vicinity. We would also like to hear from anyone who has information about who may be responsible for this incident.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the non emergency number 101.
