THE Sealed Knot Society is to recreate an army camp from the English Civil War at Oakwell Hall in Birstall.
The event, on Sunday, September 26, aims to let visitors see, hear and smell events of 360 years ago.
At that time, Oakwell Hall was at the forefront of the struggle, which pitted Yorkshiremen against each other in a bloody conflict. The society has set the timing of the event in the days leading up to the Battle of Adwalton Moor, near Drighlington.
The hall will be garrisoned by soldiers from the Parliamentary army (Roundheads) preparing for the battle.
It's a chance to see the daily life of troops during a dramatic period in Oakwell's long history.
The event will take place between 11am and 4pm. It will cost £2.50 for adults and £1.00 for children.
Parking will be free and a timetable of events will be available to visitors on the day.
For safety reasons some areas of the park won't be open to the public.
