A CAMPAIGN has been launched to stop the closure of three post offices in Kirklees.
Spen's Kirklees councillor, Gordon North, is fighting plans to close post offices in Halifax Road, Liversedge, and Healey and Carlinghow in Batley.
"I am condemning this and am writing to the Post Office to say it is not satisfactory," he said.
"To go to other offices is not acceptable."
Clr North said customers should be able to get benefits and pension payments by the route that serves them best.
"Closing post offices does not do that. It removes choice."
Clr North said the post office in Liversedge had two shops nearby.
"It was a viable shopping centre, but once the post office goes what will happen to everything else?
"Will everyone go to Morrison's in Heckmondwike for everything?"
