SPECIALIST beers from all over the UK were on tap at a charity beer festival at Denby Dale's Pie Hall this weekend.

The Denby Dale and District Lions Club organised the event to raise money for local good causes.

Activities chairman Linton Bentley said: "We always have a really good weekend and hopefully we're trying to raise as much as we can. In the past we have usually raised in the region of £1,000 to £1,500."

About 500 people attended the event which ran from Friday to Saturday evening.

Music was provided by Shelley College Music Big Band and country and western outfit Whiskey in the Jar.

On Saturday there was a big screen for the live Six Nations rugby clash.

Local businesses sponsor the beer barrels so all the cash raised from selling beer went to the charities.
