CRIME victims need more support, says a councillor.

Clr Andrew Marchington wants more cash committed in the upcoming Kirklees Council budget.

The Golcar Lib Dem councillor said: “Being a victim of crime is a traumatic experience and can wreck someone’s life. Offenders need to be made accountable for their actions.

“Victims and communities must have a say in what happens to offenders.

“We want additional money to pay for extra victim liaison officers. Some £90,000 would pay for two specialist officers in the community safety team and really help to target anti-social behaviour.”

The council’s annual budget meeting takes place on February 27.
