TWO seats of learning have been bought for Huddersfield schools.

The benches were presented to Golcar Junior, Infant and Nursery School in Manor Road and the nearby St John's Junior and Infant School, in Leymoor Road.

They were given by Co-operative Funeralcare which has offices in St Thomas's Road, Huddersfield and Church Street in Slaithwaite.

Funeral arranger Teresa Lockwood and manager Keith Clegg are seen handing over a bench to children at Golcar Junior, Infant and Nursery School.

The "befrienders' benches" were the children's idea - the aim being to help shy children, particularly new starters, feel welcome.

Children from each school year will wear a befrienders' cap and if they spot a child sitting alone on the bench, they will then approach for a chat.
