A MAN who had served nine months in prison for downloading more than 7,000 child porn images has appeared in court for breaching a sexual prevention order.

Anthony Davis, 45, of Bishop’s Court, Berry Brow, appeared before Kirklees magistrates in Huddersfield yesterday and admitted having two mobile phones and a memory stick which was prohibited by the lifetime order.

He pleaded guilty without reasonable excuse to purchasing a mobile phone capable of downloading, storing or having indecent images of children.

The court heard no images were found on any of the devices, but carrying the devices was restricted by the order.

Davis was jailed in 2010 after the court heard that almost 500 of the images on Davis’ computer were at the highest levels of seriousness. Some showed girls as young as five being “grotesquely” abused.

Prosecuting Marina Hunter-Taylor, said: “Two separate sources contacted police with information and he was found in possession of two mobile phones and a memory stick.

“When interviewed he admitted the offence and said he had had the phone for about two months.

“He was aware of the order, but still went on to buy it anyway.”

Magistrate David Longstaff refused bail and remanded Davis in custody to appear before Bradford Crown Court on March 27 for sentence for breaching the Sexual Offences Order.

He was also charged with robbery of Subway, in Huddersfield, on February 19 this year.

The court heard how £100 was removed from the till but the suspects were pursued and detained by a passer-by and a shop worker.

Davis pleaded not guilty and the case was also sent to Bradford Crown at a date yet to be determined.
