A BURLESQUE evening has raised more than £7,000 for Alzheimer's Research.

Holme Valley girl Lucie Evans organised the showcase evening at Holmfirth’s Picturedrome to raise money for the organisation after her grandad, Bert Jones, was diagnosed nine years ago.

The event included a raffle of donated items including a year’s worth of wash, cut and blow dry at Mark Riley’s salon in Huddersfield. He matched the lot price of £365, donating £725 in all.

The evening included burlesque performances, music from The Travelling Bilberets and disco. An event last year raised £6,420.

Lucie’s mum, Yvonne Evans, said the family wanted to thank everyone who contributed towards making the evening a success, including KD Decoratives, of Lockwood and the Holme Valley-based Flower House who helped decorate the venue along with the local businesses who contributed to the raffle.
