A MAN has been jailed for eight years for taking part in the botched robbery in which Bradford Pc Sharon Beshenivsky was gunned down.

Raza ul Haq Aslam, 26, of London, had effectively acted as a lookout during the fatal raid on the Universal Express travel agents in Morley Street in November, 2005.

He was convicted in March of robbery following a retrial at Newcastle Crown Court.

He was acquitted of murder, manslaughter, robbery and a string of firearms offences in December last year.

But a retrial was ordered on the charge of robbery because the jury could not reach a verdict.

Judge John Milford told ul Haq Aslam he was being sentenced on the basis that he did not know other members of the gang had guns.

Members of ul Haq Aslam's family broke down in tears as the sentence was passed.

Ul Haq Aslam was the fifth person to be convicted in connection with the robbery in which Pc Beshenivsky, 38, from Keighley, was murdered down as the gang fled.

Pc Teresa Milburn, 37, was shot and seriously wounded.
