A LANDLORD is seeking consent to re-open an Elland pub.

The owner of The Gatsby, formerly The Caddy Shack, at The Cross in Elland needs a premises licence to open.

They want to open and sell alcohol until 1am and have music Friday and Saturday evenings, and until 11pm on a weekday and 10.30pm on a Sunday.

The venue previously had a licence but it lapsed last September.

It will re-open as a licensed cafe and wine bar with a beer garden.

Caddy Shack Ltd is seeking consent for live music, but say it will only be for parties or events, and recorded music daily.

West Yorkshire Police do not object, subject to licensing conditions being met.

But three residents have opposed the application.

Concerns relate to the request for music as there are residential flats in The Gatsby’s block.

One resident says the noise from revellers is disturbing, others said music would disturb their home life.

The landlord of the venue says the upstairs of the building will be converted to apartments once the pub is open.

Councillors on Calderdale’s Licensing committee will decide the application on Thursday at 10am at Halifax Town Hall.
