BOOSTING boys' educational performance was the aim of a conference at Scissett Middle School.
About 150 parents learned how they could help to close the achievement gap between girls and boys.
The main speaker was Gary Wilson, of Kirklees Council, who works with the Government in raising national standards.
The school's head teacher, Mick Moriarty, said: "It's the first conference of this kind we have initiated.
"We believe it's a way that schools can spread ideas that can be easily used in the home."
A series of workshops were also on offer to help parents help their sons.
