A man who drove his motorbike while almost four times over the drink drive limit has been handed a suspended jail term.

Martyn Wood, of Heights Drive in Linthwaite, pleaded guilty to the offence.

The incident happened on Woodhead Road in Holmfirth on April 5.

Wood was stopped by police and breath tests revealed that he had 133 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

This was almost four times over the legal limit of 35 microgrammes.

District Judge David Scanlon sentenced the 55-year-old to 12 weeks in jail, suspended for a year.

Wood was also banned from driving for three years and must undergo six months of alcohol treatment.

Finally, he must pay £85 court costs and £80 victim surcharge.
