A SCOOTER rider suffered serious injuries when he was trapped under a car.

The 18-year-old rider was involved in a collision with a VW Golf near to the junction of Finkil Street at 3.40pm on Halifax Road in Brighouse.

Fire crews were called to the crash and used high pressure air bags to lift up the vehicle and release him.

He suffered a broken leg and cuts and bruises.

Brighouse Crew Commander Rhodes said: “The rider was trapped under the front of the car.We quickly extricated him.

“Despite his broken leg he is very lucky given the nature of the incident it could have been a lot worse.”

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called and landed at nearby Brighouse High School, but paramedics were able to take the patient to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary by road ambulance.
