A BIRKBY man who was found with crack cocaine and a weapon pleaded guilty to possessing both at Leeds Crown Court yesterday.

Waqas Ahmed, of Blacker Road, was found in possession of the class A drug with intent to supply and was also found with the extendable baton without lawful authority in May last year.

The 19-year-old, who did not have any previous offences on his record, pleaded guilty to both charges.

The case was adjourned to June 6, where he will reappear in Leeds Crown Court.

He was granted bail, with the condition of residing at his Birkby address.

His Honour Judge James Spencer QC said: “The fact that I’m adjourning the case and releasing you on bail is no indication of the likely sentence.

“All sentencing options, including imprisonment, are open to the court.”
