BURNING dust spread through a mill's ducting system last night.

The blaze broke out at Edward Clay and Son at Perseverance Mills in Dewsbury Road, Ossett, at about 8pm.

A giant oven set alight, sending the red-hot dust around overhead pipework.

The company manufactures a felt-like material.

Fire crews from Dewsbury and Ossett evacuated the building, where six people were working, then cut down parts of the ducting system to battle the hot spots.

Sprinklers prevented further damage.
