A FIERCE blaze has left a warehouse badly damaged.
The fire - which is thought to be suspicious - was spotted in the two-storey brick-built building on Dewsbury Gate Road, Staincliffe, Batley, at 8.35 last night.
It had taken a firm hold on the upper floor and fire crews were sent from Batley, Dewsbury, Cleckheaton and Ossett along with an hydraulic platform from Bradford.
Dewsbury watch manager Brendan Richardson said: "The fire may well have been burning for some time and had burned through the floor and also the roof joists."
The flames burst through the roof and firefighters were at the scene for well over two hours bringing the blaze under control and damping down.
Fire investigation experts and the police were sifting through the debris today.
